The Georgia Tech men’s basketball team has turned the page on a disappointing 2025–26 season, officially hiring Scott Cross as its new head coach following the dismissal of Damon Stoudamire. The move comes after the Yellow Jackets finished just 11–20 overall and 2–16 in ACC play, ending the year on a 12-game losing streak and prompting a swift coaching search led by athletic director Ryan Alpert. Cross arrives in Atlanta after a successful stint at Troy, where he led the program to back-to-back Sun Belt championships and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, establishing himself as one of the top mid-major program builders in the country.
Cross brings with him a proven track record of sustained success, compiling more than 350 career wins across stops at UT Arlington and Troy while consistently developing competitive, disciplined teams. At Troy, he produced five straight 20-win seasons and transformed the program into a conference power, a résumé that made him an appealing choice for a Georgia Tech program in need of stability and identity.
Now tasked with rebuilding the Yellow Jackets in a highly competitive ACC, Cross has emphasized a culture built on toughness and accountability, signaling a fresh direction for a program eager to return to relevance on the national stage.
