Georgia Tech wrapped up its spring practice slate with its annual White & Gold Game April 18 at Bobby Dodd Stadium, giving fans their first look at the 2026 roster in live action. The scrimmage, which featured two intrasquad teams (Team Swarm and Team Wreck ‘Em), followed a modified format with limited contact and an emphasis on evaluation rather than full-speed competition. Still, the afternoon provided a strong early snapshot of where head coach Brent Key’s program stands heading into the summer.
Team Swarm controlled much of the game, earning a 34–10 victory behind an efficient offensive performance. Transfer quarterback Alberto Mendoza was one of the biggest standouts, completing 12 of 16 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown while working primarily with the first-team offense. On the ground, multiple backs flashed big-play ability, including JP Powell’s long touchdown run and steady production from Michigan transfer Justice Haynes. The offense showed improved rhythm, particularly in the passing game, while the defensive front also made its presence felt with several sacks from transfers like Jordan Walker and Noah Carter.
Defensively, the focus remained on positioning and fundamentals rather than full tackling, but there were still encouraging signs across the unit. Savion Riley led all defenders in tackles, while the pass rush consistently disrupted drives. Special teams also drew attention, highlighted by a strong showing from kicker Aidan Birr, who demonstrated range on long attempts. Overall, the spring game reinforced optimism around Georgia Tech’s depth, transfer additions, and quarterback play, giving the Yellow Jackets momentum as they turn their attention toward fall camp and the 2026 season opener.
