The Atlanta Falcons made a clear statement on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft, attacking both sides of the ball with high-upside selections in the second and third rounds. With the 48th overall pick, Atlanta selected Avieon Terrell, a physical and instinctive cornerback out of Clemson. Terrell brings some much needed talent and versatility to a needy secondary that just lost Dee Alford. The pick also created a unique storyline, as he joins his older brother, A.J. Terrell, giving the Falcons a rare brother duo in the defensive backfield. Both brothers played individually at Westlake High School in Atlanta and also at Clemson before being selected by Atlanta.

Terrell’s addition fills a critical need for Atlanta’s defense, as he projects as a disruptive presence capable of contributing early in multiple roles. Known for his physicality and football IQ, he has the tools to develop into a reliable starter, particularly in press-man or nickel packages. While questions about his size and top-end athleticism remain, his production and instincts make him a strong value pick in the second round.

In the third round, the Falcons shifted their focus to offense by selecting Zachariah Branch with the 79th overall pick out of Georgia. Branch brings elite speed and playmaking ability, having recorded 81 receptions for 811 yards and six touchdowns in 2025 while also contributing as a return specialist. His explosiveness and ability to create yards after the catch give Atlanta a dynamic weapon it previously lacked, adding another dimension alongside established targets like Drake London and Kyle Pitts.

While concerns about his size and consistency caused him to slide into the third round, the Falcons may have landed one of the draft’s most dangerous offensive weapons at a bargain value, capping off an impressive Day 2 focused on both immediate impact and long-term upside.
