The Atlanta Hawks have officially locked in head coach Quin Snyder with a multi-year contract extension, according to a report from NBA insider Sham Charania. The reported deal comes after a season that saw the Hawks finish 46-36, win the Southeast Division for the first time since 2020-21, and return to the playoffs despite major roster turnover during the year.

Snyder’s extension reflects the franchise’s confidence in both his system and his ability to develop talent through turbulence. Atlanta underwent significant midseason changes, including trading former All-Star Trae Young, yet still managed to close the regular season strong and push into the postseason before falling to the New York Knicks in six games in the first round. Under Snyder, the Hawks have also seen notable player development success, with multiple young contributors taking on larger roles and thriving in expanded responsibilities.

Since arriving in Atlanta, Snyder has helped stabilize a franchise that has shifted toward a younger core built around development and defensive identity. While his overall record with the Hawks remains near .500, the front office has prioritized progress over short-term results, especially given the team’s improved late-season form and competitive playoff showing. The extension signals continuity for Atlanta as it continues to build around its evolving roster and aims to convert developmental strides into deeper postseason runs in the coming years.
