Coming out of the G-Day, the quarterback hierarchy for the Georgia Bulldogs football is starting to come into focus, with Gunner Stockton clearly positioned as the frontrunner to open the 2026 season as QB1. Stockton handled the majority of meaningful reps during the spring, showing command of the offense, improved decision-making, and the dual-threat ability that fits Georgia’s evolving offensive identity. While the staff continues to stress that competition remains ongoing, his consistency and experience give him a clear edge heading into summer workouts.
Behind Stockton, the Bulldogs have a young but intriguing group competing for the backup and future roles, led by Ryan Puglisi and Ryan Montgomery. Puglisi, a former high-profile recruit, continues to develop within the system, showing improved comfort in the pocket and a better understanding of timing in the passing game. Montgomery, meanwhile, brings a strong arm and upside that the staff has been eager to mold, though he is still refining consistency and decision-making at the college level. Both are expected to see increased developmental reps this summer as Georgia evaluates long-term depth behind Stockton.
Further down the depth chart, Hezekiah Millender and Bryson Beaver round out a room that is more about projection than proven production at this stage. Millender has shown flashes of athleticism and improvisational ability with a touchdown scored on the ground during G-Day, while Oregon transfer Beaver is viewed as a developmental prospect with tools that could grow over time in Georgia’s system. While neither is currently in the immediate competition for the starting job, both represent the type of depth programs rely on to sustain success. Overall, Georgia’s quarterback room is top-heavy with Stockton leading the way, but layered with upside that could define the position in the years ahead.
