The 2016 Falcons: The greatest coaching staff of the modern NFL?

The Nest ATL’s Miles Garrett highlights just how remarkable the 2016 Atlanta Falcons coaching staff was, particularly in how many members went on to major roles across the NFL.

That group, which included head coach Dan Quinn, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, and assistant coach Raheem Morris, has become one of the most successful coaching trees in modern football. Quinn would later become head coach of the Washington Commanders, Shanahan has enjoyed great success leading the San Francisco 49ers, and Morris has held multiple coordinator and head coaching positions, most recently being reported as the new defensive coordinator for the 49ers.

The Falcons’ 2016 staff also included future leaders like Matt LaFleur, who went from quarterbacks coach in Atlanta to head coach of the Green Bay Packers, and his brother Mike LaFleur, who was recently hired as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Offensive assistant Mike McDaniel went on to lead the Miami Dolphins as head coach before moving into a coordinator role, and linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich has served as a defensive coordinator and interim head coach with the New York Jets before returning to the Falcons in a key defensive role.
